Her Latest Obsession.

This is how we've been passing our days lately: school, dig for worms, lunch with worms, nap or not, pick up David, dig for more worms, dinner with worms, bath, story time to worms, sleep.
I've heard some kids having imaginary friends, but Julia's latest "buddies" have really taken me by surprise. In Julia's case, her "bestest" friends are worms. We dig for them in our neighbors' curbs (those who have jobs, of course). We've dug a half of our front lawn looking for them. I purchased Julia and David the bug holding containers for $1 in Target and I hope that their interest will last as long as the quality of those jars. Julia gets so excited when she finds a worm and without a beat, she picks it up with her bare hands and puts it in a jar. David on the other hand won't handle them and has Julia pick a worm up for him and drop it in his container. The best part is they think the worms are their pets and they bring them inside, insist on keeping a jar on the dining table while having a meal and feed them leaves. I think the longest the worms stayed alive in those jars were two days.

And on the days when the dirt is too dry, she is perfectly content to collect the ants or any other crawling creatures instead. I finally had to put my foot down when she found a dead bird in our backyard and insisted on bringing it in and putting a Band-Aid on it.

Forgotten Pictures.

My friend said once, "If you don't have anything to write about in your blog, just post some pictures". I think I am taking her advice one step further and posting almost every single picture (in no particular order) that hasn't made it into the blog in the last month and a half.

Discovering new trails at the Tenafly Nature Center.

Visiting Land of Make Believe.

Reenacting a fairy story where Julia plays a part of a ladybug and David is a knight.

Making friends with wild animals in our backyard.

Celebrating cousins Marko and Daria's 6th and 3rd birthdays respectively.

Visiting our friends in NH.
What could capture David's attention so much?

A band, of course!

Participating in the annual "Run for Fun" race with Sadaf. Ran 5k in 27:08 min. (I think it's my worst time in the 3 years I've participated.)

David ran around the block race. The idea of a race was more attractive to him than running itself. He needed some convincing to complete the race.

After the race, we all were treated to a great bbq at Sadaf's house.

Julia's love of books continues. I entered the kids in a library's reading program. They each supposed to "read" 100 books in 8 weeks. We are about 10 books short of a goal and we are only 3rd week into this program.

Hanging out with their cousins at Coney Island.

Central Park.

Our nightly bbq dinners outside.

Riding bikes across the GW Bridge....

and back.

Leonia's Memorial day parade.

Taking a break from riding their bikes for a quick snack.

Leonia Easter Egg Hunt (In Print)

Here are a couple of pictures from the Leonia Life newspaper on April 10, 2009 of the annual Leonia Easter Egg Hunt that took place in Wood Park on Saturday, April 4th. Friends and neighbors attended the event and everyone had a good time.

David, in the center of the picture below, wearing his blue jacket and hat, is picking up eggs two-at-a-time while keeping his basket close by.

Easter Bunny Visiting Leonia.

Today we headed to Wood Park for the annual Easter egg hunt and to take a photo with the Easter Bunny. Here are some pictures from this morning:

For the first time, both kids smiled for the camera during a character photo op.

David figured out that he could grab more Easter eggs by dropping his basket and filling it with both hands.

Julia had a blast grabbing plastic eggs and filling her basket.

As soon as the festivities ended, the kids found their friends and posed for a few pictures.

While David spent some time running in the park with his friends, Julia hung out in our car with Seth because I under dressed her and she was freezing. (Sorry Julia, but you have to wait another 14 years, at least, before you get to drive!)

In time, the rest of the kids were feeling the cold as well and everyone headed to the library to color some Easter theme pictures and warm up.

It is nice that our town offers these type of kid friendly events because the kids had a really good time, in spite of it being a bit cold and very windy.
